Special Guest Artist
Recent engagements for bass Stefan Egerstrom include joining the roster of the Metropolitan Opera to cover the Commendatore in Don Giovanni with Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, debuts with Boston Lyric Opera as Il Re in Aida and Maine Opera as Colline in La Bohème, in addition to singing Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Minnesota Opera, Central City Opera, and Opera San Antonio. He has performed with the San Francisco Opera, Houston Symphony, San Diego Opera, American Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, and San Diego Symphony with conductors Rafael Payare, Sir Donald Runnicles, Eun Sun Kim, Leon Botstein, and Yves Abel, as well as stage directors Christopher Alden and Francesca Zambello, among others. Mr. Egerstrom is a former San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow and was a participant of the 2019 Merola Opera Program. He is especially known for his portrayals of Hunding in Die Walküre, King René in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore, and Dr. Grenvil in La Traviata. In concert, he has sung Bach's Johannes-Passion, Dvořák’s Requiem, and Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust. A native of Minnesota, Mr. Egerstrom received degrees from Lawrence University and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Stefan will make his Berkshire Opera Festival debut this summer as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor—making it extra special that he shares his extraordinary artistry with us at the Gala!

Set against the charming and historic backdrop of Gedney Farm, Arias & Aperitifs will feature an intimate performance by renowned bass Stefan Egerstrom, whose commanding presence and rich sound have wowed audiences at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Minnesota Opera.
