Berkshire Opera Festival (BOF) announces auditions for the Berkshire Opera Festival Chorus for BOF's summer 2023 production of Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème. Auditions will be held for the following chorus sections:
Successful applicants will be added to the Berkshire Opera Festival Chorus roster.
We will hold auditions concurrently for the following comprimario ("bit") roles in La Bohème, which will be cast from the chorus:
SERGEANT (baritone or bass)
CUSTOMS OFFICER (baritone or bass)
Auditions will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 1:00-5:00pm in Great Barrington, MA. Candidates must prepare two arias or art songs, at least one of which must be in Italian. To apply, please send a one-page resume, or a list of previous choral experience, to BOF's Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor, Geoffrey Larson, before April 1. You will be notified of your exact audition time and location no later than April 6. Please note that an audition is not guaranteed.
An accompanist will be provided for these auditions at no charge.
All choristers are paid. Singers chosen for a role will receive an additional per-performance fee. Rehearsals are held on selected evenings and weekends, and will take place during the month of August.

BOF is accepting applications for an administrative intern during the 2023 summer season. Applicants should have reliable transportation, local housing, and an interest in the opera industry.
