In July 2020, Berkshire Opera Festival announced the cancellation of our upcoming production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite losing our entire season of live, in-person performances to this crisis, BOF is forging ahead developing alternative summer programming for Summer 2020, as well as beginning to plan our grand return to the stage in 2021.
Even as we eagerly look to the future, we have not forgotten about the singers, instrumentalists, designers, staff, and other artisans who were going to be working on Don Giovanni with us this summer, and we are committed to doing what we can to support them.
The BOF Artist Relief & Recovery Campaign has two simple goals:
Provide meaningful honorariums to our Don Giovanni artists and staff so they don’t suffer another financial hardship due to this ongoing crisis
Help BOF recover from COVID-related financial losses and ensure that we will be back in Summer 2021 with a full season of high-quality operatic performances
All donations and pledges made by September 30, 2020, will help us reach the Campaign goal!
Announcing a Gift Match Challenge!
A BOF donor has generously stepped forward with a Gift Match Challenge to give us a head start on reaching our Campaign goal. Contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $35,000 total, from the following types of donors and donations:
Gifts from NEW donors
Donations received from Don Giovanni ticket buyers, above and beyond the original value of their tickets.
Additional contributions from current donors dedicated to the BOF Artist Relief & Recovery Campaign
What If I Don't Qualify For The Gift Match?
We still need your help! The Gift Match Challenge will help considerably towards closing the funding gap, but we will still need additional support in order to help us cross the finish line of the Campaign.
